What makes a pool villa worth renting
For most of our guests, a private pool is the centre of a villa holiday in Mallorca or Ibiza: the first swim before breakfast, children who refuse to come out all afternoon, a quiet hour on the lounger as the light softens over the Tramuntana. That is why we look closely at the pool whenever we visit a house. We note its size and depth, how it faces the sun, where it sits in relation to the terrace, how well it is screened from neighbours, and the condition of the pump room and the paving.
The range within this collection is wide. There are infinity pools on hillsides looking across a bay, long lap pools laid between old olive trees, shaded pools in the courtyard of a country finca and pools with a shallow ledge for small children. Some can be heated, which extends the season well into October and brings spring forward; whether a villa offers this, and on what terms, is stated on its page. Details such as a heated pool, an outdoor shower or a pool house appear in each villa's list of features.
Florian Settele and his team in Palma know every house in person. They can tell you which pool catches shade in the late afternoon, which is warm enough by May and which is in clear view of the kitchen for parents of young children. Frequently asked questions
Are the pools heated?
Not all of them. Some villas offer pool heating, usually at an additional charge and mainly outside high summer. Whether a villa has this option is shown in its list of features, and we are happy to ask the owner for your dates.
Is the pool entirely private?
Yes. In this collection the pool belongs solely to the house you rent. How well it is screened from neighbours and the road is something we checked on our visit, and we describe it on the villa page.
Which villas suit families with young children?
Look for a shallow entry, a pool within sight of the terrace and an enclosed garden. Tell us the ages of your children and we will name the houses we recommend, and arrange a cot and high chair at the same time.
How does an enquiry work?
Send us your preferred dates through the villa page or directly to Florian Settele. We check availability with the owner, confirm the price and terms to you and come back to you as quickly as we can. Nothing is booked until you say yes.
