When a heated pool makes the difference
In high summer a pool in Mallorca rarely needs heating. From the almond blossom in February through spring, and again in autumn as the island grows quieter, the water is too cool for many guests without it. That is when heating turns a pool to look at into a pool to swim in, and why a villa with a heated pool suits anyone travelling outside the school summer holidays. Our magazine's guide to Mallorca's weather shows how warm the air and the sea are through the year.
What heatable means to us
Heatable means the house has pool heating. Deliberately, we promise nothing more than that here. Whether heating is included in the rental price or charged separately, how many days before your arrival it must be switched on and what water temperature it reaches in the weather you get all vary from house to house. We ask the owner about your dates and tell you before you book, so you know exactly what you can rely on.
Winter villas with a heated pool
Mallorca in winter is another island: quieter roads, empty walking trails, almond blossom in February and villages that keep to their own rhythm. Many of the houses here have a fireplace for cool evenings, and some also have a sauna, hot tub or steam room; houses with their own spa facilities are gathered in our villas with spa collection. For ideas for the quieter months, see our magazine pieces on Mallorca in autumn and on New Year's Eve on the island.
Where the heated pool villas are
Many of the villas with a heatable pool are in the southwest, with others in the southeast, in the Tramuntana in the northwest, in the island's interior, and in the north and south. You can choose between a seaside villa with a heated pool and a country finca with a fireplace; both are here. Our region pages describe how each area feels outside the summer season, when many hotels in the coastal resorts close and the inland villages carry on as usual.
Frequently asked questions
Is pool heating included in the price?
That varies from house to house. Before you book, we confirm with the owner whether heating is included or charged separately, and tell you the amount.
From which month is heating worthwhile?
Mainly in spring, autumn and winter. Our magazine's guide to Mallorca's weather shows how warm the air and the sea are through the year.
How warm will the water be?
That depends on the system, the weather and the wind. We do not promise a fixed temperature; we ask the owner what you can expect for your dates.
Can I add pool heating after booking?
Ask us. Whether it is possible and how much notice it needs differs by house, and the water takes time to warm up, so it helps to mention heating when you first enquire.
Are there villas with a fireplace for winter?
Yes, many of these houses have a fireplace. Select the Fireplace filter above the listings to see only those houses.
