Pets allowed means: with the owner's consent
The houses on this page belong to owners who allow pets in principle. Whether your particular dog may come is still settled before every booking: some owners accept one small dog but not two large ones; some want to know whether the dog is house-trained and whether it will be left alone in the house. Tell us the breed, size and number of animals when you enquire, and we will obtain the owner's consent and let you know whether an additional cleaning fee or a higher deposit applies. That way there is no discussion on arrival.
A finca with a dog: garden, fence and room to run
For a dog, a finca in the countryside is usually the better choice: large grounds, shade under the trees, paths between the fields right outside the door. Whether the plot is fenced is shown by the Fenced plot filter above the listings, but not every fence is dog-proof, and we will tell you from our visits. Villas in coastal villages have smaller gardens but promenades and coastal paths close by. One thing to know for the summer: Mallorca is hot in July and August, and many beaches are closed to dogs in season; early morning and evening are the best times for walks.
Travelling to Mallorca with your dog
To enter Spain, your dog needs an EU pet passport, a microchip and a valid rabies vaccination given at least 21 days before travel (Regulation (EU) No 576/2013); dogs from outside the EU need an animal health certificate. By air, small dogs travel in the cabin and larger ones in the hold, under the airline's rules. By car and ferry from Barcelona or Valencia the journey is calmer for many dogs, and some ferries have pet-friendly cabins. Hire cars are subject to the provider's terms. There are vets in every larger town on the island; we will gladly name the nearest to your house.
Dogs and the pool
Every house on this page has a private pool. Whether the dog may swim in it is the owner's decision, and most prefer not: chlorinated water, hair in the filter and scratches on the lining are the reasons. We ask on your behalf so you know before you travel. A dog bed, bowls or a dog sitter for a day out can be arranged by our concierge on request, at an additional cost. All houses with a private pool, with or without a dog, are in our villas with pool collection; fincas in the countryside in our luxury fincas collection.
Frequently asked questions
Can any dog come along?
No, consent is given per house and per dog. Tell us the breed, size and number of animals, and we will settle it with the owner before you book.
Is there an extra charge for the dog?
At some houses the owner asks for an additional final cleaning or a higher deposit. We tell you what applies before you book, so there are no surprises.
Which documents does my dog need for Spain?
An EU pet passport, a microchip and a valid rabies vaccination given at least 21 days before entry. Further rules apply to dogs from outside the EU.
Are dogs allowed on the beach?
Not on many beaches in summer; some municipalities designate dog beaches. We will name the nearest to your house and tell you when it is open.
May the dog use the pool?
Usually not; that is the owner's decision. We ask on your behalf so that you know before you travel, not at the water's edge.
