First serve before breakfast
A private tennis court is a rarity in the Balearics, and a well-kept one rarer still. On our visits we therefore look at the surface and its condition, at floodlighting for the cooler evening hours, at windbreaks and screening, and at whether racquets and balls are kept in the house. What we find is written on the villa page, so there are no surprises when you arrive.
The houses in this collection tend to stand on large plots where a court does not crowd the garden: country estates in the centre of Mallorca, properties in the south-west between Santa Ponsa and Port d'Andratx, fincas near Pollença and, in Ibiza, around Santa Gertrudis. Alongside the court there is usually a large pool and a gym, sometimes a padel court, a basketball hoop, a boules pitch or a putting green. Golfers have Son Vida, Santa Ponsa, Andratx, Pollença and Alcanada within reach in Mallorca, and Golf de Ibiza at Roca Llisa in Ibiza.
Those who want to play tennis on holiday usually want to eat well and rest well too. On request our concierge can arrange a tennis coach, a personal trainer, massages or yoga on the terrace, each at an additional charge. Frequently asked questions
What surface are the courts?
It varies from house to house: hard court, artificial grass or clay. The surface, and its condition at our last visit, is noted on the villa page.
Do the courts have floodlights?
Not all of them. In high summer most people in Mallorca and Ibiza prefer to play early in the morning or after six in the evening in any case; where floodlights exist, they are listed among the villa's features.
Are racquets and balls provided?
In many villas, yes, but it is not guaranteed. Ask when you enquire and we will confirm with the owner or arrange equipment for your stay.
Can I book a tennis coach?
Yes, on request. Our concierge can arrange a coach who comes to the villa; we quote the cost in advance, and it is charged separately from the rental.
