Sea views that live up to the photographs
No phrase in villa rental disappoints more often than sea view, which is why we verify it on the ground. Can you see the water from the sitting room or only from the roof terrace? Is the house truly on the front line, or does a neighbour stand between it and the shore? How far is the walk to the nearest cala, and how many steps are involved? What we found on our visit is written into every villa page in a way you can rely on.
In Mallorca this collection gathers houses in Port d'Andratx, Camp de Mar and Sol de Mallorca in the south-west, above the bays of Pollença and Alcúdia in the north and along the calas of Santanyí and Cala d'Or in the south-east. In Ibiza they run from the cliffs near Cala d'Hort, facing Es Vedrà, to the quiet coves of the north around San Juan. What they share is proximity to the water and the evening light that settles on terrace and pool.
A house by the sea also raises practical questions: wind on exposed headlands, salt in the air, a berth in the nearest marina, access to a bathing platform. Florian Settele has lived in the Balearics since 2013, five of those years in Ibiza, and knows both coastlines first hand. Tell us what matters to you and, after speaking with the owner, we will find the house that answers it.
Frequently asked questions
What do you mean by front line?
That nothing is built between the plot and the water. Whether you reach the sea directly from the garden, down a flight of steps or along a short footpath is stated on each villa page.
Do any villas have a private beach?
There are no private beaches in Spain; the coastline is public. Some houses do, however, have their own bathing platform or a path down to a cove that few others use. We will gladly tell you which.
Are seafront villas exposed to wind?
Clifftop and headland positions catch more of a northerly or easterly wind than houses in sheltered bays. We know the setting of every villa and will advise you, particularly if you travel in spring or autumn.
Can I bring or charter a boat?
Marinas at Port d'Andratx, Puerto Portals, Port Adriano, Cala d'Or and Alcúdia, and Marina Botafoch in Ibiza, lie close to many villas in this collection. Berths and charters are arranged by our concierge at an additional charge; simply mention it when you enquire.
