Looking at the partially eclipsed sun damages the retina permanently and without any warning pain. Certified eclipse glasses meeting the ISO 12312-2 standard are mandatory for all partial phases – from 19:37 until totality begins, and again immediately after. Buy them before travelling, as stocks on Mallorca will run out quickly.
Only during totality itself may you briefly remove the glasses and observe the solar corona with the naked eye. The moment the first sliver of sun reappears, put them back on immediately. For cameras and binoculars: never point them at the sun without a proper solar filter fitted in front of the lens.
